Early Life and EducationArthel Neville, born in 1962 in New Orleans, is an esteemed American journalist, television reporter, and personality. Hailing from a renowned musical family (her father, Art Neville, is a world-renowned pianist and performer), Arthel chose a different path, pursuing her passion for television.
Journalism Career
After graduating from high school in 1980, Neville moved to New York to study journalism. She cut her teeth in television after returning to New Orleans, earning accolades as the first African American reporter for the local news channel in Austin, Texas. Starting as a general assignment reporter, Neville quickly transitioned to hard-hitting news, tackling issues of local politics and social concerns.
Entertainment Journalism
In the 1990s, Neville shifted gears, transitioning from news to the world of entertainment. She became the host of a celebrity interview show in 1991, interviewing over 200 stars from film, music, and beyond. As the nation's first African American female celebrity interviewer, Neville gained widespread recognition and popularity.
National Recognition and CNN
