Early Life and Education
Arthur Mendonça was born in Canada in 1976 and grew up on São Miguel Island, which is part of the Azores archipelago and belongs to Portugal. In 2002, he earned his Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design from Ryerson University in Toronto, where he also interned at 'NYBased Design' in New York City.
Career
After returning to Canada, Arthur founded his own line in Toronto in the same year and unveiled his debut collection, Spring 2003, which received widespread acclaim. British Vogue named him the "rising star of Canadian fashion". In 2004, Mendonça was awarded the 'Style Magazine Fashion Export Award' in the category of 'New Designer of the Year'.
