Early Life and Education
Asa Hutchinson was born on December 3, 1950, in Bentonville, Arkansas. He graduated from Bob Jones University and the University of Arkansas School of Law.
Congressional Career
Hutchinson's political career commenced in 1997 when he was elected to the United States House of Representatives, representing Arkansas' 3rd Congressional District. He served four terms from 1997 to 2001.
Bush Administration
In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Hutchinson as the Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). He held this position until 2003. Subsequently, Hutchinson served as Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Border and Transportation Security from 2003 to 2005.
State Attorney General
Returning to Arkansas, Hutchinson was elected as the State Attorney General in 2006. He served two terms, concluding in 2015.
