Military Service
Ashley Babbitt was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving for over twelve years. She was stationed at Dyess Air Force Base in Texas from 2004 until entering the reserves in October 2008. In July 2010, she joined the Air National Guard and remained a member until July 2016, serving as part of the District of Columbia's 113th Wing at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
Post-Military Career
After her military service, Babbitt worked for Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant as a security officer from 2015 to 2017. Subsequently, she established a business called "Fowler's Pool Service and Supply," which she was forced to close due to financial difficulties.
Fatal Incident
On January 6, 2021, Ashley Babbitt participated in the "Save America" rally held by Donald Trump's campaign in Washington, D.C. After the President's speech, a mob of attendees marched to the United States Capitol Building. During the subsequent riot, Babbitt attempted to enter the building through a broken window in a door, where she was shot in the neck by a Capitol Police officer. She was transported to a hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
Personal Life
Ashley Babbitt was married twice, first to Senior Master Sergeant Timothy McEntee on April 12, 2005. They had previously served together in the Air Force and adopted a retired military working dog named Sorbonne. McEntee stated that Babbitt was a "wonderful woman with a big heart" when he learned of her death. On June 25, 2019, Babbitt married Aaron Babbitt, and the couple lived in Spring Valley, near San Diego, after the wedding.
