Biography of Ashot Apoyan

Ashot Oganesovich Apoyan (Armenian: Շոտ Հովհաննեսի Ապոյան) was born on June 11, 1950, in Gyumri, Armenia. He is an Armenian political and state figure.

Education and Early Career

In 1975, Ashot Apoyan graduated from the Yerevan Zootechnical and Veterinary Institute, where he studied engineering and technology. He was awarded the Anania Shirakatsi Medal in 2001. From 1974 to 1975, he worked as an engineer-technologist at the Tumanyan Head Cheese Factory.

Career in the Military and Agriculture

Ashot Apoyan served in the army from 1975 to 1976. In 1977, he began working at the Armenian Branch of the All-Union Research Institute of Oil and Cheese. From 1977 to 1988, Apoyan held various positions at the Yerevan Dairy Plant, including shift master, senior engineer-technologist, and department head. In 1988, he became the director of an ice cream factory, and from 1989 to 1995, he served as the director of the Ashtarak Cheese Factory. From 1995 to 2002, Apoyan was the chairman of the board of directors and executive director of various dairy companies, including "Ashtarak-kat" and "Yerevan City Dairy Plant".

Political Career

Ashot Apoyan entered politics and became a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARFD) party. From 2003 to 2007, he served as a member of parliament and was a member of the standing committee on financial, credit, budgetary, and economic issues. On May 12, 2007, he was re-elected as a member of parliament and became a member of the standing committee on economic issues. Apoyan continues to be an active member of the ARFD.
