Biography of Ashton Holmes

Ashton Holmes was born on February 17, 1978, in Albany, New York. From a young age, he was captivated by the magic of theater and cinema, inspired by watching "Peter Pan" with his mother. Growing up, his desire to play Luke Skywalker in "Star Wars," a film he watched countless times, sparked his interest in becoming an actor. At the age of six, he began taking acting lessons and participating in local amateur theater productions.

Holmes attended The Albany Academy, a boys' school, where he also served as the lead vocalist for a local band called "Method of Groove." Interestingly, Holmes was the person who sent demo recordings of the progressive rock band "Coheed And Cambria" to the label "Equal Vision Records," leading to their first record deal and the release of their debut album, "The Second Stage Turbine Blade."

During his final year in school, Holmes participated in a New York State Theater Institute internship, studying all aspects of the dramatic arts. He made his theatrical debut when he landed one of the leading roles in the rock opera "Rent" after his first audition. He then embarked on a national tour with the rest of the cast. He also performed in London's West End production of "The Snow Queen" and appeared in "A Christmas Carol."

Currently, Holmes resides in Los Angeles. He has recently appeared in television shows such as "Lie To Me," "Dr. House: Medical Division," "Nikita," and "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation." Additionally, he has appeared in films including "Smart People" (2008) and the upcoming thriller "The Divide" (2011). Holmes is widely recognized for his roles as Jack Stall in the crime drama "A History of Violence" (2005), alongside Viggo Mortensen, and as Private Sidney Phillips in the HBO miniseries "The Pacific" (2010).
