Biography of August Seidel


August Seidel was a German artist and landscape painter, and the brother of Franz Seidel. He studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and also under the guidance of Karl Rothman. In 1845, he embarked on a journey throughout Italy, and in 1863, he visited Paris.

Seidel was known for his landscape paintings, often depicting the foothills of the Bavarian Alps. He was strongly influenced by John Constable and the artists of the Barbizon school. His works can be found in the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the Wrocław Museum, and other collections.
