Augusto Benedico, born Augusto Pérez Lías in Alicante, Spain, was a prominent Mexican actor and screenwriter during the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. He studied law but discovered his passion for theater as a university student.
Early Life and Immigration
In February 1939, Benedico was arrested and imprisoned in a concentration camp in France. After his release, he decided to emigrate to Mexico. He arrived in the port of Veracruz five months later on board the ship "Mexique." Benedico struggled to find work in his profession upon arrival.
Debut and Career
In 1949, Augusto Benedico made his film debut in "Venenosa, La." From that moment on, his life was inextricably linked with cinema. He began working in television in 1958.
Benedico's talent and charisma quickly made him a beloved figure in Mexican cinema. He appeared in numerous films throughout his career, playing a wide range of roles from villains to romantic leads. His notable performances include:
