Early Life and Education
Born near Kaunas, Lithuania, to a publisher, Aušra Augustinavičiūtė developed a passion for knowledge from a young age. She pursued higher education at Vilnius University, graduating in 1956 with a degree in finance from the Faculty of Economics.
Career in Education and Research
After graduating, Augustinavičiūtė worked in the Ministry of Finance and as a political economy lecturer in Vilnius. Her interest in sociology grew, leading her to become one of the first in the Soviet Union to study the field in the 1960s. She briefly served as the Dean of the Faculty of Family Studies at Vilnius University in 1968.
Development of Socionics
In the early 1970s, Augustinavičiūtė encountered Jung's typology, Freudian psychoanalysis, and Kępiński's theory of information metabolism. Drawing inspiration from these ideas, she and her colleagues developed the theory of socionics. In the mid-1980s, she discovered Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) typology and attempted to refine her theory further.
Pioneering Publications and Recognition
Augustinavičiūtė's groundbreaking work in socionics began with the 1978 article "The Theory of Relativity of Erotic Feelings." This was followed by her self-published book "The Dual Nature of Man," the first comprehensive work on the subject. In 1980, she published an article on the Model of Information Metabolism, which sparked both criticism and interest.
Contributions to Socionics
Throughout the 1980s, Augustinavičiūtė produced numerous publications on socionics, many of which were deposited in the library of the Academy of Sciences of Lithuania. In 1995, she was awarded the first-ever diploma for a discovery in the social sciences by the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences for her contributions to socionics.
Scientific Advisory Role
From 1996 onwards, Augustinavičiūtė served as a scientific consultant for the International Institute of Socionics. She also became a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals published by the institute.
Socionics Type
Augustinavičiūtė's socionics type is Intuitive-Logical Extravert (LIE), also known as "Don Quixote" or "Seeker." This corresponds to the ENTP type in the Myers-Briggs typology.
