Early Life and Education
Born in Biri, Norway, Keilhau completed his university studies in Christiania (now Oslo), where he became a lecturer in mining in 1826.
Geological Explorations
Keilhau embarked on a series of expeditions to explore remote regions of Norway, including Finnmark and Nordland. He also visited Spitsbergen and gathered extensive data on the geological composition of Norway.
Founding of "Gala Norwegica"
In 1838, Keilhau founded "Gala Norwegica," a journal dedicated to the geognosy of Norway. Through this publication, he disseminated valuable research, including:

"Ueber den Bau der Felsenmasse Norwegens" (1844-1850)"Erster Versuch einer geognostischen Karte von Norwegen"
Contributions to Scientific Journals
As editor of "Magazin for Naturvidens Kaberne," Keilhau published numerous articles on Norwegian earthquakes, the theory of granite, land uplift in Norway and Sweden, and Scandinavian formations.
