Norwegian Geologist and Poet

Theophilus Scheerer was a renowned Norwegian geologist and poet. He received his education at the universities of Christiania (now Oslo), Bonn, and Heidelberg.

Establishment of the Norwegian Geological Survey

In 1857, Scheerer played a pivotal role in establishing the Norwegian Geological Survey, becoming its first director. Concurrently, he held the position of Professor of Mineralogy and Geology at the University of Christiania.
