The Talented London Artist

Banksy is a talented London artist and graffiti painter. His name (or rather his pseudonym - his real name is unknown to anyone) is currently the most popular in the world of graffiti. Banksy is not only an excellent artist but also an innovator, an original, and a nonconformist. His drawings cover the walls of London and attract the attention of anyone passing by, not to mention his true fans.

 Banksy

Biography

There are speculations that the artist known as Banksy is named Roberts (or Robin). He was born in Bristol in 1974. Anonymity is his calling card. Every graffiti enthusiast dreams of meeting the artist, but not everyone is fortunate. Moreover, it is believed that real facts about his life, as well as photographs, are practically inaccessible to anyone. Despite this, Banksy is incredibly popular today. Every publication dreams of interviewing him, and anyone with a decent understanding of graffiti would not refuse to acquire one of his works, albeit at a very high price. However, the artist does not showcase his own persona and, furthermore, carefully conceals it, perhaps primarily because he is of great interest to the local police.

 Banksy

The Beginnings and Technique

Banksy first started engaging in this fascinating form of art in the late 1990s when he was a member of the DryBreadZ Crew. Soon, he became well-known, often being apprehended by the police. Therefore, the resourceful artist decided to use a different technique in his graffiti - stenciling. In just a few years, Banksy became popular not only in London and its surroundings but also in other countries. Now his works are exhibited at auctions and sold for exorbitant prices. His graffiti is special. Each drawing is full of meaning and calls for something. The majority of Banksy's graffiti is anti-war, freedom-loving, socially conscious, and extremely relevant. Banksy is an extremist and in some sense, a lawbreaker. A few years ago, for example, the artist secretly replaced five hundred Paris Hilton CDs with his own, adorned with his drawings. He accomplished this with the help of his comrade Danger Mouse.

 Banksy

Protest in New Orleans

Some time ago, Banksy worked in New Orleans. He adorned the city walls with dozens (or even more) of paintings, which became an outright protest against Radtke - a well-known opponent of graffiti art.
