Education and Early Influences

Batyr's education began at SSh 233 im. N. Ostrovsky, where he discovered his passion for music at the tender age of 12. The guitar became his first instrument of choice.

Leningrad and Alma-Ata

In 1979, Batyr traveled to Leningrad (now Saint Petersburg) to pursue his musical aspirations at the Leningrad State Institute of Culture named after N.K. Krupskaya. His instrument of choice now was the saxophone, adding to his growing repertoire. After two years in Leningrad, he returned to Alma-Ata (now Almaty) and enrolled at the Almaty State Conservatory named after Kurmangazy.

The Conservatory Years

During his intense Conservatory years, Batyr met the renowned Soviet jazz musician Georgy Metaksa, who introduced him to the world of jazz. Performances with Metaksa and other notable musicians, such as Takhir Ibragimov and the group "Boomerang," earned Batyr widespread recognition.

"Arai" and Beyond

In 1982, Batyrkhan joined the famous group "Arai," which gained prominence throughout the Soviet Union. As part of "Arai," he was awarded the title of Laureate at the Seventh All-Union Variety Artist Contest in 1983.

Military Service and "Almata Studio"

After completing his military service in the Soviet Army from 1985 to 1986, Batyr joined the group "Almata," later renamed "Almata-Studio" and finally "A'Studio."

Time with Alla Pugacheva

From 1989 to 1994, Batyr worked with Alla Pugacheva's Theatre of Song. His most memorable performance during this time was the beloved "Dzhulya."

Solo Career

After 13 years with "A'Studio," Batyr embarked on a solo career. His first solo album, "Otan Ana" (Motherland), was released in Kazakh in 2002 and featured 10 compositions and a video bonus for the title track.
