Bayezid III: The 44th Head of the Ottoman Dynasty
Early LifeBayezid III, born into a cadet branch of the House of Osman, holds the distinction of being the first member of the dynasty to be born in exile. His parents divorced, and after his father's passing in 1932, his mother, Khadija Sadiye, remarried an American citizen. In 1941, Bayezid and his family relocated to the United States.
Military and Professional Life
Bayezid served honorably in the U.S. Army and later found employment at the New York Public Library.
Head of the Dynasty
On September 24, 2009, Bayezid became the head of the Ottoman dynasty following the demise of Ertugrul Osman, who would have been Osman V had the Ottoman Empire still existed.
Personal Life
Bayezid remains unmarried and has no children. Despite his eligibility for the throne, he would have reigned as Bayezid III, reflecting the continuation of the dynasty in exile.
