Bebe Buell, born Beverle Lorence Buell on June 14, 1953, is an American model and singer. She gained fame as the "Playmate of the Month" in Playboy magazine in 1974. Buell is well-known for being the girlfriend and wife of several famous rock musicians.
Modeling Career
Buell's modeling career began when her mother, Dorothea, sent her photos to the Ford modeling agency. Within three days, she received a positive response and started her professional modeling career at the age of seventeen. In 1972, she moved to New York City. She was named the "Playmate of the Month" in the November 1974 issue of Playboy magazine. Buell was one of the first models to pose for the magazine, but this episode cost her a contract with the Ford agency. However, she quickly signed contracts with the American agency Wilhelmina and the British agency Models One. While her American career was affected by the Playboy photoshoot, she remained in demand in Europe, with contracts from British and French Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, and Cosmopolitan. Buell returned to the modeling industry in 2003, signing a contract with the New York-based IMG Agency.
Relationships and Personal Life
In 1972, at the beginning of her modeling career, Buell was in a relationship with rock star Todd Rundgren. During and after this relationship, she also became acquainted with many other musicians, including Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Jimmy Page, and Steven Tyler. She lived with Rundgren in New York City and Woodstock. Many believed they were married, and the press often referred to her as "Bebe Rundgren." Buell is the mother of actress Liv Tyler, and she told her daughter that Rundgren was her father, although her biological father is actually Steven Tyler. At the time, Tyler was deeply immersed in drug addiction. Buell later had relationships with Rod Stewart, Elvis Costello, Stiv Bators, and Jack Nicholson. In 1992, she married actor Coyote Shivers. They divorced in 1999, and in 2002, Buell married Jim Wallerstein from "Das Damen."
