Education and Early Career

Bernhard Kammel embarked on a diverse academic journey, studying architecture, theology, and forestry between 1980 and 1995. His artistic pursuits began in 1979 with black-and-white photo essays.

Photography

From 1999 onwards, Kammel's photography evolved, incorporating color portraits and large-scale works that presented narratives through still images. In 2004, he launched a series titled "Still Portraits," capturing sequences of images that depict moments of respiration.

Filmmaking

Kammel entered the film industry in 2005. He wrote and directed "The Daughter" in 2006, followed by "Energy" (2008) and "A Late Summer Night" ("Eine Spätsommernacht," 2009). His fascination with Russian cinema led him to establish a production company in Moscow.

Russian Connection

Kammel's affinity for Russian culture influenced his work significantly. He found inspiration in Russian films and established a personal connection to the country.

Alpine Retreat

Since 1997, Kammel has resided in the Austrian Alps, where he finds solitude and inspiration for his artistic endeavors.
