Biography of Blagoj Nacoski
Blagoj Nacoski is a Macedonian opera tenor and laureate of several international competitions. He was born on May 18, 1979, in Skopje, the capital of the Republic of Macedonia, into a family of musicians. He began singing thanks to his mother and later studied at the Ilija Nikolovski-Luj Education Center of Music and Dance in Skopje.
Nacoski continued his vocal education in Rome, Italy, under the guidance of Mirella Parutto, Antonio Boyer, Anna Vandi, and Raul Gimenez in Barcelona, Spain. In 2003, he passed his exams at the Conservatorio di Musica Licinio Refice in Frosinone, a small town near Rome.
Debut and Career
In February 2003, Nacoski made his debut as Arturo in Donizetti's opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, conducted by Maestro Daniel Oren. Since then, he has performed the role of Ferrando in Mozart's "Così fan tutte" in several theaters, including Stuttgart, Zurich, and Genoa.
He has also portrayed Don Ottavio in "Don Giovanni" in Miskolc, Cagliari, and Genoa, Ernesto in "Don Pasquale" in Miskolc, Almaviva in "Il barbiere di Siviglia" in Genoa, Belmonte in Mozart's "Die Entführung aus dem Serail" at La Monnaie in Brussels, Tamino in "Die Zauberflöte" in Frankfurt, and Alfredo in "La traviata" in Tokyo.
In addition to his operatic roles, Nacoski performed the lead role in Mozart's dramatic serenade "Il sogno di Scipione" in Klagenfurt and at the Salzburg Festival. This production was later released on DVD by Deutsche Grammophon in 2006.
Nacoski made his debut in his homeland on the stage of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet in Skopje in May 2007, where he portrayed Lindoro in Rossini's "L'italiana in Algeri."
Repertoire and Beyond
Nacoski's repertoire is undoubtedly wide, although he mainly specializes in Mozart's operas. He has also performed in two Strauss operas. Occasionally, he showcases his talent in symphonic and chamber music, such as his concert of Johannes Brahms at the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome in 2005, which was broadcasted on Rai Radio 3.
