Biography of Yusif Eyvazov

Yusif Eyvazov is an Azerbaijani opera singer and dramatic tenor. Born in Baku, Azerbaijan, Yusif's musical talent became apparent at a young age. While studying at the Baku Conservatory, he originally intended to pursue a career as a pop singer but his life took a different turn after he attended a concert by Montserrat Caballé in Moscow. This event inspired him to pursue a career in opera.

In 1998, Yusif decided to further his studies in Italy. Initially, he attended masterclasses with renowned opera singers such as Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Magda Olivero, Franco Corelli, and Antonio Foli. Although he faced challenges in balancing his studies at the Baku Conservatory and his education in Italy, his hard work and talent, along with the experience gained from these esteemed masters of opera, led to his success in the opera world.

Yusif faced many challenges when he first arrived in Italy at the age of 20. Without friends or acquaintances, he had to rely on odd jobs as a translator and waiter to support himself and pay for his conservatory education. Despite the difficulties, Yusif persevered and made his Russian debut at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, where he performed the role of Cavaradossi in Giacomo Puccini's opera "Tosca." This was the start of his numerous performances on prestigious stages worldwide, including the Opéra Garnier in Paris, the Vienna State Opera, La Scala in Milan, and even a performance before Pope Benedict XVI in the Vatican.

One of the influential figures in Yusif's career was Luciano Pavarotti. Yusif participated in a concert dedicated to the renowned tenor in Israel and acknowledged Pavarotti's impact on his singing career. He expressed his gratitude for Pavarotti's support and sought his blessing before every performance. Another significant moment in Yusif's career was his debut as the title role in Verdi's opera "Otello" at the Teatro di Dante Alighieri in 2013. This performance marked a milestone in his career and was made possible by the guidance and understanding of director Cristina Muti.

Yusif Eyvazov is one of the few Azerbaijani performers representing his country on the world's most prestigious stages. His accomplishments are recognized and appreciated by his fellow Azerbaijanis. After the premiere of "Manon Lescaut" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Ambassador Vagif Sadykhov hosted an official dinner in honor of Yusif Eyvazov and Anna Netrebko, celebrating their success.

Yusif continuously strives to learn and grow as an artist, recognizing that stagnation hinders progress. He values the care and preservation of his most important instrument, his voice. To prepare for demanding performances, Yusif focuses on getting enough rest, minimizing stress, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He abstains from smoking and drinking while prioritizing a balanced diet.

Regardless of the circumstances, Yusif Eyvazov always remembers the teachings of his maestro, Luciano Pavarotti. He understands that audiences expect beauty, positive emotions, and perhaps even hope from artists.
