Burnham graduated from St. John's Preparatory School in 2008 and enrolled at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. The videos gained traction after being featured on Break.com. Burnham continued to post comedic videos, often exploring themes such as white privilege, disability, and religion.

In January 2008, Burnham made his comedy debut on Comedy Central's The World Stands Up in London. He subsequently signed a four-year deal with Comedy Central Records, releasing his debut EP, "Bo Fo Sho," in 2008. His first studio album, "Bo Burnham," followed in 2009.
