Early Life and Education
Corker was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Engineering Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1974.
Business Success
After graduating, Corker founded a construction company in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he made his fortune and became a multimillionaire.
Entry into Politics
Corker forayed into politics in 1994 when he ran for the United States Senate but narrowly lost to Bill Frist. Undeterred, he was elected Mayor of Chattanooga in 2001. After a successful mayoral term, he set his sights on the Senate once again.
