Biography of Bogdan Olteanu

Bogdan Olteanu was born in October 1971 and is a Romanian politician. He graduated from the Bucharest University with a degree in the European Union program, as well as having an economic and philosophical education. Olteanu has been a member of the National Liberal Party of Romania since 1991.

Career

From 2004 to 2006, Olteanu served as the Minister Delegate for Parliamentary Relations. However, he resigned from this position one day before being appointed as the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies (the lower house of the Romanian parliament). He replaced Adrian Năstase, one of the leaders of the opposition Social Democratic Party, who was forced to resign due to corruption charges and the misappropriation of state funds during his tenure as Prime Minister of the country. These allegations were not proven legally, but they caused a significant controversy in the local media and Romanian society.

During a secret vote, the members of the Chamber of Deputies gave preference to Olteanu, who represented the ruling Democratic Alliance of Romania, which includes the National Liberal Party.

Personal Life

Bogdan Olteanu is married and has one child.
