Born into Privilege and Sacrifice
Bogusław Bohdanowicz Wilczkowski was born on March 14, 1928, in Poland (present-day Belarus). His family, wealthy landowners, embraced Soviet rule when Western Belarus reunited with the Byelorussian SSR.
A Young Hero in Wartime
During World War II, Wilczkowski's family remained in occupied territory. At the age of 14, he joined the resistance as a liaison for a partisan detachment, gathering intelligence and participating in sabotage missions.
From Stable Boy to Chairman
After the war, Wilczkowski worked as a humble stable boy at the "Iskra" collective farm in Malaya Svorotva. His dedication and abilities were recognized, and he was soon promoted to бригаdir (brigadier). In 1959, the party organization elected him as chairman of the kolkhoz.
Political and Civic Engagement
Wilczkowski became an esteemed member of society. He served as a deputy in the Supreme Soviet of the Byelorussian SSR and as a member of the Brest Oblast Party Organization's Revision Commission.
Tragic Assassination
On November 27, 1964, tragedy struck. While delivering a speech at a party meeting, Wilczkowski was assassinated by a shot fired through a window from the outside. The murder shocked the republic and the entire Soviet Union.
