Early Life and Training

Yang Sze was born in China and began training in kung fu under the guidance of several masters. He also pursued acrobatics and bodybuilding alongside martial arts.

Moving to Hong Kong and Acting Career

In the 1960s, Bolo moved (according to one version, he swam!) from China to Hong Kong. He started teaching bodybuilding in Hong Kong and eventually began his acting career, often portraying tall, muscular villains, usually foreigners. While appearing in films, he continued to hone his martial arts skills. In 1970, Bolo won the title of "Mr. Hong Kong" in a bodybuilding competition.

Collaboration with Bruce Lee

In 1973, Bolo was chosen by Bruce Lee to play the role of Bolo, the top fighter of drug lord Mr. Han, in the film "Enter the Dragon." Bolo had met Bruce by chance while filming a small commercial together. Although there wasn't a fight scene between Bruce and Bolo in "Enter the Dragon," Bruce promised to "kill Bolo" in his next film. This film was supposed to be "Game of Death," which Bruce unfortunately did not complete. In the film, Bolo is portrayed as the "Southeast Asian champion in Shotokan Karate."

International Recognition

During the 1970s and 1980s, Bolo Yeung appeared in nearly a hundred Hong Kong action films. However, he gained worldwide recognition for his performances in two highly acclaimed movies alongside Jean-Claude Van Damme - "Bloodsport" and "Double Impact." In these films, Bolo portrays villains. Besides his impressive technique, he demonstrates excellent concentration and the ability to anticipate his opponent's actions without looking directly at them. Bolo Yeung is rightfully considered much stronger than many of his "heroic" opponents.
