Boris Kogan Biography
Boris Kogan is an American, formerly Soviet, chess player and an international master since 1982. He was born in the Soviet Union and showed great talent in chess at a young age. Kogan won the USSR Junior Chess Championship in 1956 and 1957.
After completing his education, Kogan began working as a chess teacher, sharing his knowledge and expertise with aspiring players. In 1981, he made the life-changing decision to immigrate to the United States.
Once in the US, Kogan continued his chess career and participated in the US Chess Championships three times. He showcased his skills and determination by winning the Georgia State Chess Championship an impressive nine times. Among his victories, he achieved the remarkable feat of winning the championship seven times consecutively from 1980 to 1986, and then again in 1988 and 1992.
Throughout his chess journey, Boris Kogan has not only demonstrated exceptional talent but also served as a mentor and instructor, helping to develop the next generation of chess players. His dedication and success in the world of chess have made him a respected figure in the chess community, both in the United States and internationally.
