Bram Cohen, the co-founder of the BitTorrent protocol, is a talented programmer and a well-known figure in the Internet world. He was born in the United States in 1975 and grew up in Manhattan, New York. From an early age, Bram impressed those around him with his thirst for knowledge and his exceptional programming abilities. At the age of just five, he was introduced to Basic, a programming language.

During his time at Stuyvesant High School in New York, Bram stood out as one of the brightest and most knowledgeable students. He participated in thematic olympiads such as the America Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) and easily achieved victories, gaining attention from experts in the field. Bram graduated from Stuyvesant in 1993 and went on to attend the University at Buffalo. However, he decided to leave his studies and began working.

Throughout the 1990s, Bram collaborated with various companies on the development of different projects, including MojoNation, alongside its talented founder, Jim McCoy. In the early 2000s, Bram Cohen discontinued his work on MojoNation and created another groundbreaking product - the first torrent protocol, BitTorrent, which was written in Python. The initial version was launched in June 2001 and quickly gained immense popularity.

BitTorrent introduced several notable features, such as efficient downloading without queues, the ability for clients to download multiple files or directories, and the exchange of information between clients following the "give and take" rule. Additionally, every fragment of a file remained intact and secure. Today, the number of BitTorrent users continues to grow.

In 2004, Bram Cohen, along with his brother Ross Cohen and business partner Ashwin Navin, founded the corporation BitTorrent, Inc., with its headquarters located in San Francisco, California. While the organization engages in various activities, its primary focus is on supporting the BitTorrent protocol. Currently, Bram resides in San Francisco with his wife Jenny and their three children.
