Early Career and Club Beginnings

Breel Embolo, a Swiss-Cameroonian footballer, began his footballing journey at the youth academy of FC Nordstern Basel. In 2008, he moved to the youth academy of Old Boys Basel, and in 2010, he joined FC Basel.

Professional Debut and Rise at FC Basel

Embolo made his professional debut on March 13, 2014, coming on as a substitute for Serey Die in the 90th minute of a Europa League match against FC Red Bull Salzburg. Three days later, he made his Swiss Super League debut against FC Aarau, which ended in a 5-0 victory for his club. Embolo scored the final goal in the match.

At the age of 18, Embolo signed a professional contract with FC Basel, which was set to expire in 2019. He went on to win the Swiss Super League title with the club in the 2014/15 season.

Move to FC Schalke 04

On June 26, 2016, Embolo joined FC Schalke 04 for a transfer fee of €27 million. He signed a five-year contract with the German club.

International Career

Embolo represented Switzerland's U17 youth team in friendly matches in 2012. He was granted Swiss citizenship in December 2014, allowing him to participate in official international competitions.

Embolo made his debut for the Swiss national team on March 31, 2015, against the United States, coming on as a substitute for Josip Drmić in the 56th minute. He scored his first goal for the national team in a Euro 2016 qualification match against San Marino in November 2015.

To date, Embolo has played 15 matches for the Swiss national team, scoring two goals.
