Biography of Alessandro Nesta

Alessandro Nesta is an Italian footballer who played as a central defender. He was first noticed by scouts from Lazio while playing in a youth tournament in San Basilio. At the age of eight, Nesta joined the Rome club "Cinecittà" and received offers from both Lazio and Roma. However, he chose to join Lazio, despite better financial terms offered by Roma.

Nesta made his official debut for Lazio in 1992 at the age of 16. His first season in Serie A was not very successful, with zero goals and zero appearances. In 1994, he suffered a leg injury during a training session, which he said reminded him of his former teammate Paul Gascoigne. Nesta's career took off when Zdenek Zeman became the coach, and he became an integral part of the team's success in the late 90s, under the coaching of Sven-Goran Eriksson.

During his time at Lazio, Nesta achieved significant success, including winning the Serie A title, two Coppa Italia titles, and the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup. He also represented the Italian national team and was a key player in the Euro 2000 championship, where Italy reached the final but didn't win.

In 2002, Nesta was transferred to AC Milan, where he formed a solid defensive partnership with Paolo Maldini. He continued to excel and became one of the best defenders in the world. Nesta won the UEFA Champions League twice with Milan, in the 2002/2003 and 2006/2007 seasons. In the final of the 2007 FIFA Club World Cup, he scored a crucial goal to secure victory for Milan.
