Bridget Brink: A Seasoned Diplomat

Early Career and Diplomatic Posts

Bridget Brink, an American diplomat, began her career in the U.S. State Department in 1996. Her early diplomatic assignments included serving as a Political Consular Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade from 1997 to 1999 and working in Cyprus until 2002.

Rise Through the Ranks

Subsequently, Brink became Special Assistant for Europe to the Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs (2002-2004). From 2005 to 2008, she served as Chief of the Political-Economic Section in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Her career continued to flourish as she became Deputy Director for Southern Europe in the U.S. State Department. She then joined the U.S. National Security Council, where she managed the Aegean and South Caucasus portfolio. In this role, she coordinated U.S. foreign policy with Turkey, Greece, Cyprus, Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Armenia.

Return to Georgia and Uzbekistan

In 2011, Brink returned to Georgia as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi. From 2014 to August 2015, she worked as Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Ambassadorship in Slovakia

President Donald Trump appointed Brink as Ambassador to Slovakia. Her nomination was confirmed by the Senate on May 23, 2019, and she served in this capacity until her departure in 2022.

Appointment as Ambassador to Ukraine

On April 25, 2022, Bridget Brink was appointed as the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine. She assumed her role at a critical time, as Ukraine faced a severe crisis due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.
