Early Life and Education
Bronislav Vladislavovich Kaminsky was born in the Vitebsk Governorate to a Polish father and German mother. In 1917, he enrolled in the Petrograd Polytechnic Institute but soon joined the Red Army as a volunteer. Despite his military service, Kaminsky remained a member of the Communist Party.
Arrest and Imprisonment
After the Civil War, Kaminsky returned to the institute before working at the "Respublika" chemical plant. In 1935, he was expelled from the Communist Party for criticizing collectivization and arrested two years later for alleged involvement in the Chayanov counterrevolutionary group. Sentenced to imprisonment, Kaminsky served as a technologist in a Sharadinsk labor camp.
Ober-Burgomaster of Lokot
Upon his release in early 1941, Kaminsky was sent to the Lokot settlement. Following the establishment of the Lokot Self-Government, he became deputy mayor under Konstantin Voskoboynik. After Voskoboynik's death in 1942, Kaminsky was appointed Ober-Burgomaster.
Formation of ROA
In autumn 1942, Kaminsky formed the first brigade of the Russian Liberation Army (ROA) to defend the Lokot district from partisans and NKVD forces. He enjoyed considerable authority and support among the population, with reports of Soviet partisans defecting to join his forces.
Anti-Partisan Operations
ROA units participated in numerous anti-partisan operations, including Operation "Gypsy Baron." During the operation, over 10,000 Soviet citizens were killed, 203 burned alive, and over 24 villages completely destroyed.
Collaboration with the Wehrmacht

SS Formation

29th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS ROA (Russian No. 1)
On August 1, 1944, an order was issued to form the 29th Waffen Grenadier Division of the SS ROA (Russian No. 1). However, the same day, the Warsaw Uprising began, and the existing personnel were deployed there.
Suppression of the Warsaw Uprising
A regiment led by SS-Sturmbannführer Ivan Frolov participated in suppressing the Warsaw Uprising. Witnesses reported that the regiment committed atrocities, including rape, murder, and looting.
Death
Bronislav Kaminsky was killed on August 19, 1944, during the Warsaw Uprising. He was shot by a Polish Home Army soldier in the Ochota district.
