Early Life and Youth CareerÉric Bertrand Bailly was born on April 12, 1994, in Bingerville, a suburb of Abidjan, Ivory Coast. His passion for football began at an early age, and he joined the youth academy of local club Toumodi FC in 2000. Bailly spent four years honing his skills with Toumodi, showcasing his exceptional defensive abilities.
Professional Career
In 2004, Bailly's talent earned him a move to Africa Sports d'Abidjan, his first professional club. Over the next two seasons, he made 41 appearances for Africa Sports, establishing himself as a promising young defender.
In 2006, Bailly's career took an international turn as he transferred to Hungarian club Honvéd. For four years, he became a mainstay in the Honvéd defense, amassing 79 appearances and cementing his status as a competent and reliable defender.
Move to France and International Recognition
Bailly's impressive performances in Hungary caught the attention of French club Valenciennes, who signed him in January 2010. He continued to impress in Ligue 1, establishing himself as a dependable and consistent presence at the back.
Concurrently with his club career, Bailly represented Ivory Coast at various youth levels, including the Olympic team that participated in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In 2009, he made his debut for the senior national team and went on to feature in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
