Biography of Boombox
Boombox is a rock band formed by two musicians who were previously involved in well-known Ukrainian groups. They began composing music together, mostly for their own enjoyment, without any serious expectations. When the question arose about adding additional instruments, vocalist Andriy Klyvnyuk and guitarist Andriy "Mukha" Samoilo decided not to assemble a large lineup. Instead, they invited a DJ, the renowned scratch-master Valik Matiyuk, to experiment with them. On their very first rehearsal, Valik's beats and scratches became an integral part of Boombox's melodic and yet energetic music.
The band was formed in Kyiv, although all its members come from different cities. Andriy Klyvnyuk (vocals, lyrics) is from Cherkasy, Andriy "Mukha" Samoilo (guitar) is from Lutsk, and Valentin "Valik" Matiyuk (DJ) is from Novovolynsk. The musicians quickly composed and recorded material for their debut album. However, the band's managers did not rush to release it. Instead, Boombox took an interesting step - they decided not to keep their unreleased album under lock and key, but actively started distributing CDs with the recording to all their acquaintances. As a result, the band's songs even started playing on many regional radio stations, and when they performed in new cities, the guys were amazed to find that the audience was singing along to their songs by heart.
In the near future, the band plans to release their album "Melomaniya" in Russia. Despite the fact that all of Boombox's songs are written in Ukrainian, their concerts in Moscow revealed that their music is interesting even to those who do not fully understand the band's topical and beautiful lyrics.
