Early life and education

Carmen Mark Valvo was born in New York City to a family of Spanish and Italian descent. His talent for fashion design emerged at a young age when he helped his sister sew a lavish medieval-style ball gown for a school event. However, at the time, he never imagined that fashion would become his profession. His father was an anesthesiologist and his mother was a nurse, hoping that their son would continue the family tradition and become a doctor, perhaps even a plastic surgeon. However, after graduating from high school, Carmen Mark Valvo enrolled in the School of Fine Arts at Manhattanville College, and later traveled to Europe to immerse himself in the fashion trends of the Old World.

Career in fashion

After spending several years in Europe, Carmen Mark Valvo realized that his education was not sufficient for a successful fashion career, so he returned to America and enrolled in the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Following his studies, he went back to Europe and began designing clothing for the brand "Nina Ricci." After a few months of working for the renowned fashion house, he gained confidence in his own abilities and decided to launch his own collection of sportswear.

Rise to fame

In 1989, Carmen Mark Valvo created his first collection, investing a few thousand dollars, and began offering his clothing to the most prestigious stores in New York City. The collection was extremely popular among fashion enthusiasts and was completely sold out within a few weeks, instantly propelling Valvo to the status of a "rising star" in the fashion world.

Current work and philanthropy

Today, Carmen Mark Valvo's collections are regularly showcased at New York Fashion Week. In addition to sportswear, he now designs classic dresses, footwear, and swimwear. His successful sales allow him to engage in philanthropic and public activities. Valvo is the founder of the Entertainment Industry Foundation and recently donated over a million dollars towards the fight against colorectal cancer.

Chocolate gown

Valvo's clothing continues to be in high demand among Hollywood celebrities. In 2002, he astonished the fashion world by creating an exclusive evening gown made entirely of chocolate. "I have a great love for sweets and became obsessed with this idea," says Carmen. "Thanks to my friend, French chef Ivan Le Moulin, who managed to create a solid chocolate corset and a pleated skirt for the dress."
