Early Life and Education

Carole Bureau-Bonnard was born on August 9, 1965, in La Fère, France. She attended Lycée Gérard de Nerval before pursuing her education in Amiens, where she earned a degree in physiotherapy in 1987.

Political Beginnings

Bureau-Bonnard's political career began in 2008 when she was elected to the municipal council of Noyon on the Socialist Party list. She became first deputy mayor of Noyon in 2010 and was also elected vice-president of the Association of Communes of Noyon. In the 2014 municipal elections, she maintained her position as Noyon's first deputy mayor.

National Assembly Success

In 2017, Bureau-Bonnard ran for the National Assembly as a candidate for La République En Marche! in the 6th constituency of Oise. She secured a decisive victory with 58.4% of the votes in the second round. In the National Assembly, she served on the Committee on Defense and Armed Forces.

Promotions and Responsibilities

On June 28, 2017, Bureau-Bonnard was elected First Vice-President of the National Assembly. She briefly served as acting President of the National Assembly from September 4 to 12 following François de Rugy's transition to government. However, she lost her bid for re-election as Vice-President in July 2019 and left the post on September 30.
