Early Life and Education

Virginie Duby-Muller was born in Scionzier, Haute-Savoie, France. She completed her studies at the Grenoble Institute of Political Studies in 1997, specializing in public service. She later obtained a DESS diploma in entrepreneurship from the same institution.

Political Career

Local and Regional Politics

Duby-Muller entered politics as an assistant to Jean-Marc Chavanne, a National Assembly deputy from Haute-Savoie, from 2002 to 2012. She also served as an assistant to Claude Birraux from 2007 onwards. From 2008 to 2012, she was a municipal councilor in Scionzier. From 2012 to 2015, she served in the regional council of Rhône-Alpes.

National Assembly

In 2012, Duby-Muller was elected to the National Assembly from the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP). She won the seat in the second round, defeating Socialist Guillaume Mathelier with 55.5% of the vote. In 2017, she was re-elected as a candidate of The Republicans (LR). Despite losing the first round to LREM's Laura Devin, she secured a majority in the second round with 54.63% of the vote.

Leadership of The Republicans

On May 19, 2022, Duby-Muller became the interim leader of the Republican parliamentary group after Damien Abad stepped down. She held this position until the parliamentary elections in June.
