Casey Malone was born on April 6, 1977, in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. His athletic journey began at an early age with his participation in various sports. In high school, he excelled in football, basketball, and track and field, with a particular fondness for discus throw. His high school best reached 53.95 meters.

College and Early Career

After graduating high school, Malone enrolled at Colorado State University, where he joined the track and field team under the guidance of Brian Bernard. His performances improved significantly, culminating in a victory at the 1998 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Malone graduated in 2000 with a degree in art.

The Choice Between Sports and Art

Malone faced a difficult decision between pursuing his passion for art and continuing his athletic career. The opportunity to represent the United States at the Olympics ultimately swayed him towards discus throwing, making art a cherished hobby.
