Biography of Shy'm

Shy'm is a French pop singer of Algerian descent. She was born in Melun, a suburb of Paris, but spent her childhood in southwestern France. Her family consists of her parents, Sherif and Mohammed, her sister Deborah, and her brother Karim. From a young age, Shy'm's older sister encouraged her to pursue singing. Starting at six years old, the future singer practiced her voice at family gatherings and regional singing competitions. Shy'm was a dreamy, shy girl who struggled with self-esteem and devoted little time to school.

In 2003, Shy'm auditioned for the second season of the French television show Popstars, which aimed to create a musical group. She did not make it far in the program, but the show's producer, Valery Zeitoun, noticed her talent. He took on Shy'm as a protege and enlisted songwriter Rick Allison to write her first single. The song "Entre nous" quickly topped the French charts. Shy'm released several successful albums, collaborating with renowned writers such as Michel Sardou, Jean-Felix Lalanne, Lara Fabian, and Julie Zenatti.

However, Shy'm faced challenges with her third album, "Le mirroir," as it was leaked online before its official release, leading to decreased success. Additionally, her musical style remained relatively static, with similar melodies and arrangements in her songs. Shy'm eventually parted ways with Zeitoun.

Today, Shy'm resides primarily in North America, specifically in Quebec, Canada. She is eager to experiment with different styles and plans to release an English album.
