Early Career
Born in Northern Ireland, Chris Brunt began his football journey with trials at Manchester United and Middlesbrough. He eventually signed for Middlesbrough in 2002 but struggled to break into the first team.
Sheffield Wednesday
In March 2004, Brunt joined Sheffield Wednesday on loan from Middlesbrough. His impressive performances earned him a permanent two-year contract with the club. He played a pivotal role in their promotion from League One to the Championship in the 2004-05 season, scoring five goals. His contract was extended for an additional year in July 2005. The following season, Brunt became the club's top scorer with seven goals. By the end of the 2006-07 campaign, he had made over 100 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday, making him the club's most experienced player at the time.
West Bromwich Albion
On August 14, 2007, West Bromwich Albion acquired Brunt on a four-year contract worth £3 million, with a potential £500,000 bonus based on performance. He made his debut for the club on September 1, 2007, coming on as a second-half substitute in a 2-0 home win against Barnsley. Brunt scored his first goal for West Bromwich Albion on September 22, 2007, in an away victory against Scunthorpe United.
International Career
Chris Brunt has represented the Northern Ireland national team over 25 times. He scored his first international goal on February 11, 2009, in a victory against San Marino.
