Biography of Chris Melendez

Chris Melendez, an American and a war veteran in Iraq, became a professional wrestler despite losing one leg due to injuries sustained in combat. Born in East Harlem, Chris followed in his father's footsteps and joined the military at the age of 17. Unfortunately, during his deployment in Iraq, he found himself lying on the ground, bleeding and missing his left leg after a battle. After a swift recovery and receiving a Purple Heart for his service, Chris decided to pursue a career in professional wrestling.

Undeterred by his disability, Chris began training and soon became a student at a wrestling academy. Within a short period, he signed a contract with TNA Impact Wrestling. His unique presence in the ring, as a wrestler with one leg, attracted attention and anticipation from fans who appreciated the unconventional. Despite the physically demanding nature of wrestling, Chris remained dedicated to his training, eager to showcase his abilities in matches.

His debut in the TNA Impact Wrestling show in the summer of 2014 was highly anticipated by thousands of wrestling enthusiasts. Chris is known to have a wife and a young son, whom he proudly posed with before his first match. He also shared that his father, a Vietnam War veteran, inspired him since childhood to pursue two dreams: serving in the military and becoming a wrestler. When his military dream was shattered in Iraq, Chris wholeheartedly pursued the remaining one.

Growing up, Chris's paternal grandmother, a passionate wrestling fan, would make sure no one disturbed her when wrestling matches aired on television. Watching wrestling with his grandmother ignited Chris's dream of one day stepping into the wrestling ring himself. Today, his dream has come true, as Chris Melendez has debuted as a professional wrestler, joining an exclusive group of one-legged wrestlers in the history of this captivating and massively popular sport.
