Christian Keferstein
Early Life and EducationChristian Keferstein, a distinguished German geologist, was born in 1784 in Halle, Germany. He initially pursued studies in law at the University of Halle, where he earned his doctorate in 1805. Upon graduation, he served as a legal advisor but soon decided to devote himself to the fields of geodesy and geology.
Contributions to German Geology
Keferstein's most notable contribution to geology was the publication of "Deutschland, geognostisch-geologisch dargestellt" (7 volumes, 1821-1831). This groundbreaking work provided the first comprehensive geological map of Germany. His other significant works included:
