Ferdinand August Roemer was a German geologist and mineralogist who made significant contributions to the field. From 1849, he directed the natural history museum in Wiesbaden and later became a professor of mineralogy and geology in Karlsruhe in 1855.

Roemer is renowned for his geological and paleontological works. Notable publications include:
