Early Life and Education
Shota Dzozenidze was born into a peasant family in Georgia. He developed a passion for geology at an early age and went on to pursue his studies at Tbilisi State University, graduating in 1929.
Academic Career
Following his graduation, Dzozenidze began his academic career in 1933 as the Head of the Department of Mineralogy and Petrography at the Kutaisi Pedagogical Institute. In 1934, he moved to Tbilisi State University where he held various positions, including Professor, Department Head, Dean, and finally Rector (1958-1959).
Scientific Contributions
Dzozenidze made significant contributions to the field of paleovolcanology and the relationship between magmatism and tectonics. He co-founded the theory of volcanogenic-sedimentary lithogenesis, which provided new insights into the formation of certain rock types.
Political Career
In 1959, Dzozenidze entered the political arena as the Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Georgian SSR. In 1960, he became the Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR. He held this position until his death.
Party Affiliation
Dzozenidze joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1940. He was elected as a member of the Central Revisionary Commission at the 22nd and 24th Congresses of the CPSU.

Dzozenidze's scientific and political achievements were recognized with numerous awards:
