Cobie Smulders was born on April 3, 1982, in Vancouver, Canada. In her childhood, when she wasn't engaged in sports, she dreamed of becoming a doctor or a marine biologist. However, these dreams took a backseat when she discovered her passion for acting while participating in several school productions. Another opportunity to pursue a public career presented itself when Smulders signed a contract with a modeling agency. Despite embarking on successful Asian and European tours and having promising prospects, she left the modeling industry in 2000. After a brief return to the runway, she moved to Los Angeles to fully dedicate herself to acting.

Similar to "Special Unit 2," the series didn't last long on the small screen. Smulders' role as a photographer in the series "The L Word" followed her appearances in "Smallville" and "Tru Calling."
