Biography of Dale Begg-Smith
Dale Begg-Smith (born on January 18, 1985) is an Australian freestyle skier. He won the gold medal for Australia in the men's moguls event at the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turin. Dale is the third Australian to ever win a gold medal at the Winter Olympics. In addition, he has won three rounds of the World Cup and is considered the best mogul skier in the world.

Early Life and Career
Begg-Smith developed a passion for skiing in his native Canada. One day, his coach told him that he was spending too much time on his budding business and not enough time training. Dale believed that such interference in his personal life was unacceptable and, along with his business partner and brother Jason, moved to Australia at the age of fifteen. The brothers chose Australia because the skiing program was less developed there and, as a result, did not have such strict requirements for athletes, allowing the Begg-Smiths to focus more on their business. For three years, the brothers did not compete, but instead trained with the Australian team and lived in Jindabyne every winter. After three years, they were granted Australian citizenship and were finally able to compete for their new home.

Controversies
Alice Monk, the coordinator of mogul competitions, once mentioned that Begg-Smith always booked the cheapest hotels and flights, regardless of his current wealth. "Where the team stayed, he stayed. No big demands - you wouldn't think he had money. When we traveled to Perisher Blue, he lived in a small, old, almost crumbling cabin with the other athletes." His business was involved in distributing harmful software that infected internet users' computers. The Sydney Morning Herald published an article revealing how a lengthy digital trail search helped identify the source of many dangerous viruses - which turned out to be Dale Begg-Smith. Although Begg-Smith's manager, David Malina, claimed that rumors about his client's activities were greatly exaggerated, most of his websites were shut down and several pages he created were destroyed as legal processes against Dale began in mid-February 2006.
Recognition
On February 21, 2006, the Australian Postal Service issued a stamp featuring Begg-Smith, praising his achievements at the Olympics.
