Biography of Dan Abrams

Dan Abrams is an American television host, legal analyst, web entrepreneur, and best-selling author. He is currently the CEO of Abrams Research, a media strategy firm. Abrams serves as the current legal analyst for ABC News' "Good Morning America" and hosts his own show on the Investigation Discovery channel called "Chasing Justice with Dan Abrams". He has previously held positions as the chief legal analyst for NBC News, the CEO of MSNBC, and a substitute host for ABC.

Early Life and Education

Dan Abrams was born on May 20, 1966, in Manhattan, New York City. He is the son of lawyer Floyd Abrams and Efrat Abrams. He attended the Riverdale Country School and graduated in 1984. Abrams earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from Duke University in 1988, where he was involved in broadcasting news on Cable 13, a student cable channel, and was a member of the fraternity Delta Tau Delta. He later received a Juris Doctor degree from Columbia Law School.

Career

Before his career in broadcasting, Abrams served as an intern for the Manhattan Borough President. He gained recognition as a reporter for Court TV, where he covered high-profile cases such as the O.J. Simpson trial and the trial of Dr. Jack Kevorkian. In 2000, Abrams joined NBC News as a reporter and gained further prominence covering the "Bush v. Gore" case. He then launched his own show, "The Abrams Report," on MSNBC, which eventually led to him becoming the CEO of the network. Abrams held this position until October 2007, during which time he significantly increased the channel's ratings. He later hosted the show "Verdict with Dan Abrams" until August 2008.

In March 2011, Abrams left NBC to become a legal analyst for ABC News and a substitute host for "Good Morning America". Alongside his work at Abrams Research and ABC News, he has contributed articles to various publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, American Lawyer, and Yale Law & Policy Review. He has also written for online media outlets such as Huffington Post and Daily Beast. Additionally, Abrams co-owns the New York City restaurant "The Lion".

Personal Life

Dan Abrams has never been married. He has been romantically involved with several high-profile individuals, including actress Elisabeth Rohm, from 2003 to 2004. Reports suggest he has also been in relationships with actress Jaime Murray, Australian supermodel Elle Macpherson, and actress Renée Zellweger. Abrams is a vegetarian.

In 2011, President Barack Obama nominated Abrams' sister, Ronnie Abrams, for a federal judgeship.
