Daniel Akhtyamo
Early Life and Youth CareerDaniel Akhtyamo is an Azerbaijani and Russian footballer who made his name as a striker. His father, Rasim Akhtyamo, was a former footballer from Baku who played for Neftchi Baku. Daniel grew up in the Russian city of Cherepovets, where he began playing football at a young age. Through his father's connections, he joined the football academy of Lokomotiv Moscow.
Professional Career in Azerbaijan
Despite his hopes to play for Lokomotiv's reserve team, Akhtyamo was not selected. He returned to Cherepovets and played for Sheksna. In 2004, he relocated to Azerbaijan, where he joined the Azerbaijani Premier League club Inter Baku. He later went on to play for Gandja and Olimpik Baku before returning to Inter in the 2006/07 season.
Return to Russia and International Travel
In 2008, Akhtyamo returned to Russia, signing with Torpedo Moscow. Later, he played for Sheksna once again. During this period, he also played for Belarusian club Minsk and Azerbaijani club Simurg. He ventured further afield in 2011, joining Uzbek club Djambay and Moldovan club Tiraspol the following year.
Return to Cherepovets and Retirement
In the latter half of 2012, Akhtyamo returned to his hometown of Cherepovets, playing for Aist. From 2013 onwards, he played for Titan Klin.
International Career
Akhtyamo acquired Azerbaijani citizenship and made his debut for Azerbaijan's youth team. He also represented the senior national team, debuting in 2004 against England. However, after several appearances, he fell out of favor with the coaching staff. In 2009, coach Berti Vogts recalled Akhtyamo to the national team, but he failed to score in 13 international appearances.
