Early Career

Born in Montana, Bulgaria, Georgi Borimirov began his football career with local club Bdin. In 1990, he joined the prestigious Bulgarian club Levski Sofia.

Success with Levski Sofia

At Levski Sofia, Borimirov experienced significant success, winning three Bulgarian championships (1993, 1994, 1995) and three Bulgarian cups (1991, 1992, 1994). He played a pivotal role in the club's rise to prominence during this period.

Move to Bundesliga

In 1996, Borimirov made the move to the German Bundesliga, joining 1860 Munich. He spent seven seasons with the Bavarian club, making 311 appearances and scoring 173 goals. Borimirov became a fan favorite and established himself as a prolific goalscorer in the league.

Return to Levski Sofia

In 2003, Borimirov returned to Levski Sofia, where he continued to make a significant contribution to the team's success. His goals helped the club reach the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup in 2005/06. In 2007, Levski Sofia completed a domestic double by winning both the championship and the cup.

International Career

Borimirov was a regular member of the Bulgarian national team, representing his country at two World Cups (1994 and 1998) and two European Championships (1996 and 2004). He made 67 appearances for the national team, scoring 5 goals.

Retirement and Post-Playing Career

Borimirov retired from professional football on May 17, 2008, after a match against Slavia Sofia. Following his retirement, he became the Executive Director of Levski Sofia, a role he held until 2018.
