Biography of Daniel Passarella

Daniel Alberto Passarella was born on May 25, 1953, in Chacabuco, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. He grew up in a poor family and began playing football at a young age on the streets. At 13, he dropped out of school to start working and support his family.

Early Football Career

Passarella joined his first organized football team, Arhentino, at the age of 16. Despite facing difficulties in his hometown, he persevered and developed his skills as a defender. He later played for Sarmiento and River Plate in Argentina, as well as Fiorentina and Inter in Italy. Throughout his career, he played 451 matches and scored 134 goals in Argentina and Italy.

International Career

Passarella represented the Argentina national team in 70 matches, 46 of which he captained. He made his debut on March 20, 1976, and played his last match on May 4, 1986. Passarella was a key member of the 1978 World Cup-winning team and also won the Copa America in 1979. He scored a total of 22 goals for the national team.
