Daniel Risch: Prime Minister of Liechtenstein

Education and Career

Daniel Risch, the current Prime Minister of Liechtenstein, holds a distinguished educational background. He completed his secondary education at Liechtensteinische Gymnasium in Vaduz in 1998. Subsequently, he pursued business administration at the Universities of St. Gallen, Zurich, and Munich from 1999 to 2003. After graduating from the University of Zurich with a degree in Economics, he earned a Doctorate in Business Informatics from the University of Fribourg in 2007.

Academic and Business Experience

Prior to his entry into politics, Risch held various positions in academia and business. From 2004 to 2007, he served as a research assistant and lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland. Simultaneously, he was a visiting lecturer at the University of Melbourne, Australia, from 2006 to 2007 on a research fellowship from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). In the business sector, Risch worked at Unic AG, an e-business consulting firm, from 2007 onwards. He held the roles of Head of Sales and Chief Marketing Officer of the Unic Group. Notably, Risch founded the FL1.LIFE art, culture, and music festival in Schaan in 2009. From 2015 until his entry into government in 2017, he served as Chief Marketing Officer at Post AG, Liechtenstein's postal service.

Political Career

Risch joined the Patriotic Union in 2016. He was elected to Parliament in 2017 and subsequently appointed as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Economy, and Sport in a coalition government with the Progressive Citizens' Party. On March 25, 2021, he became Prime Minister after leading his party to victory in the parliamentary elections. Sabine Monauni of the Progressive Citizens' Party serves as Deputy Prime Minister in his government.

Personal Life

Risch is married to Jasmin Scheidler and has two children. He resides with his family in Triesen. In addition to his political and professional roles, he has held various board and supervisory board positions in Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, and Austria.
