Biography of Daniella Dax
Early Life and CareerDaniella Gardner, better known by her stage name Daniella Dax, was born on September 23, 1958, in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, United Kingdom. After a brief career as a model, which included winning the "Miss Evening Echo" beauty pageant in 1976, Daniella developed a passion for avant-garde music. She became involved with the punk band The Lemon Kittens and performed several concerts with them. Daniella also contributed to The League of Gentlemen's album, recording the song "Minor Man." However, when the album was released on CD under the title "God Save The King," her song was omitted.
Solo Career and Film Roles
In 1982, Daniella left The Lemon Kittens and embarked on a solo career. Over the course of seven years, she released three albums, "Pop-Eyes" (1982), "Jesus Egg That Wept" (1984), and "Inky Bloaters" (1987), all on her own label, Awesome Records. In 1984, she portrayed a werewolf in Neil Jordan's gothic film "The Company of Wolves," which remains her only acting role. In 1988, Daniella recorded several tracks for Nigel Wingrove's film "Axel" and released a double album titled "Dark Adapted Eye" on the Sire Records label. The album featured both previously known tracks, such as the well-known "Big Hollow Man," and new works like "Cat-House," "White Knuckle Ride," "When I Was Young," and "Whistling for His Love."
Later Years and Current Life
In 1989, Daniella appeared on the television show "Star Test" on Channel 4, where she answered various questions posed by a computer for 30 minutes. When asked, "If you met God, what would you ask him?" Daniella Dax responded, "Why are good people not as successful as bad ones?" In 1990, she released the album "Blast the Human Flower," produced by Stephen Street. In 1995, two albums, "Comatose-Non-Reaction" and "Timber Tongue," were released. In 1996, Daniella developed an interest in interior design and made several appearances on the BBC show "Homefront."
Today, Daniella Dax leads a more relaxed life and rarely performs. All three of her albums have been reissued by the Biter of Thorpe label.
