Early Life and Career

Daniyar Ashimbayev, a prominent Kazakhstani political scientist, graduated from Turan University in 1996. His professional journey commenced in 1990 as a librarian at the Central Scientific Library of the Academy of Sciences of Kazakhstan.

"Who's Who in Kazakhstan"

In June 1994, Ashimbayev spearheaded the information and publishing project "Who's Who in Kazakhstan" as its director. He also served as the editor-in-chief of the Kazakhstan Biographical Encyclopedia, which saw 12 editions by 2012. The work has been highly acclaimed for its comprehensive coverage of Kazakhstani notables.

Additional Publications

Ashimbayev's literary contributions extend beyond the "Who's Who" project. He co-authored "Kazakhstan 90s: Kajegeldin's Government: Privatization, Corruption, and the Struggle for Power" (2003), "Kazakhstan: A History of Power. An Attempt at Reconstruction" (2008), and "The 2004 Elections in Kazakhstan: Step by Step" (2005).

Editorial Roles

Ashimbayev has held significant editorial positions. He is the deputy editor-in-chief of the Kazakhstan Information and Encyclopedia Directory (KInES). From May 2004 to December 2005, he served as editor-in-chief of the Communication Technology Center "Reputation."

Public Service

Ashimbayev's engagement with the public sphere is evident in his involvement in various initiatives. He was a member of the Public Council under the Archive of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan from 2016 to 2018. In May 2015, he donated personal documents of Kazakh Soviet scientist and educator Malik Gabdullin to the Archive for state preservation. These documents were acquired by Ashimbayev from private collectors in Almaty.
